Art Journaling comes to Hummie's World

Visiting Bernie's Art Journaling thread this month has been inspirational at the least. So much to see and learn. It is great fun to start out a new venture with friends. Bernie has created a some fantastic papers. She is an artist by nature and her papers are perfect for art journaling. BoBoBernie has art papers, solids and even some beautiful inspirational papers at  in the Boomerang at Hummie's World. I was inspired to create this page using one of her papers and some wonderful things from Lee Benkers Designs.

Photo Walk

Photowalk template freebie by Kimm23

There is a lot going on for me so I missed sharing about the Photo Walk at Hummie's World Saturday. I created this freebie template to share so you can hop on over to hummiesworld.com in the Photo Walk Forum to grab it if you like. The walk was therapeutic for me. Just knowing my digi friends were doing the same thing on the same day gave my mood a boost and now seeing the results in the forum really warms my heart. I created it from a recent layout of mine and it was my first template ever! Can't wait to do it again. Now I see why so many people give things away. It's fun!

Little Did I Know is now at Hummie's World

Oops! I'm late getting this fantastic new collab from the Hummie's World Designers posted. It's called Little Did I Know, it's all blue and white and it's beautiful! I've had so much fun using it and watching the wonderful layouts popping up in the gallery! And of course, Lee Benkers Designs is a contributor! There is a link to Hummie's World on the sidebar. Just go to The Boomerang to shop. It's right there! While you're there check out all the lessons and the fantastic community. It's one of the most welcoming communities I've found in digi-land! Little Did I Know. Here are some layouts I created using Little Did I Know: One of the first things I did was some white-on-white. I used to love white-on-white fabrics back in my quilting days and always snapped some up when I saw it. I feel the same way about this kit. White-on-white is great and...so is blue-on-blue! I just may have a new favorite color combo. Besides, my mom always loved blue and white together, so this kit feels especially special:)

I am so pleased to be added to Lee Benkers Designs creative team. She creates such beautiful digital kits. Her papers are always my favorite part, of course, because I am a paper lover. But honestly, I love everything she does. Keep in Touch, released today is absolutely beautiful. It is so cool that the first kit I am ct'ing for uses one of my favorite color combos, blue and brown. It's fun, too, because you can make any photo into a postage stamp with the stamp frame. I used one of my flower photos to do just that. Just gotta love this kit! It can be found at Hummie's World dot com, a link is right over there on the right. Hummie's store is called The Boomerang. Hop on over and take a look! Here are three layouts I created using Keep in Touch: Take a look at Lee's blog, too. She is an amazing photographer. She is just plain amazingly all-around creative. Lee is on Etsy, too!! If I forget, remind me to add her link;) Take care and have fun...Kim

The Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race 7

Wow, I am participating in ADSR7 this year after only a year of digital scrapbooking. I remember hearing about this last year and found it overwhelming even thinking about entering into such an activity. Now I get it. I'm doing it. I'm scared. I'm doing it anyways. Enough wining. I am so excited to try this. And goodness, what a way to start right out of the gate. I lost my first layout when I saved it. I have NO IDEA what happened. I went shopping for an Alpha and when I went to open the psd. it my computer had NO IDEA what program to use to open it! What's that about? ...at least I had saved a flattened copy, so I could find it again, so I used it to recreate the layout today. Whew! Since I'm a bit nervous about this I really didn't want to start over. I have teamed up with Brenda from Brazil and we named our team Elements X 12, in reference to her 7 children and my 5, totaling 12. Cool beans, huh! I think we'll make a good team, though I worry about living up to Brenda's talent. She is more experienced than I am so I don't want to let her down. Her first layout is Awesome! I only hope she likes mine as much as I like hers. The challenge is to take a failure of a photo, for some reason, and scrap it. Wow! Pretty clever challenge. Brenda scrapped a photo her husband took with her camera. So funny. You can't tell what he was snapping. It looks like a fence with...something...behind it. Brenda created a Fantastic layout. The photo fits right into it as though it was taken just for the layout. She used perfect colors and journaled about her husband's curious photography subjects. Okay, enough blabbering for now. Here's the layout I created for my first ever ADSR. I used a photo from my son's wedding. I wanted to catch one of those perfectly posed wedding party photos the professional photographer was shooting. Well, mine was anything but perfect. It was backlit, sporting dark shadows and a lot of things were going on. The girls were, all but one, laughing at who knows what. Michelle, my DIL the bride, had a very confused expression on her face. And the other bridesmaid I mentioned was standing to one side deep in thought about something unknown to anyone but her. I love the photo, but saw it as irreperably flawed. After scrapping it, I see it as precious beyond belief. It is a magic moment caught on film (or digital film?) which will never be seen again. It's priceless, and I can't wait to show it to Michelle and Matthew. So without further ado... ADSR7.1

Take 12 April

Oops! Forgot all about posting Take 12 April layout. I dedicated April's post to a young soldier from our community who lost his life due to a car bomb while serving in Afghanistan. I didn't know him but I have been deeply touched by his sacrifice and that of his family and young wife. His funeral was on the 12th as I was taking my photos and it was just natural to take photos of the flag that was hung over the street from the towering ladder trucks. May he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten.

2012 Take 12-March

The 2012 Take 12 challenge at Ella Publishing Co. http://www.ellapublishing.com/blog-topics/take-twelve-project is truly a fun way to document the elements of your everyday life. No pressure, just fun. Here is mine for March, which I posted on the flickr Take 12 group. I did take the photos for January and February but, true to style, I have not scarpped them. Something got into me, unknown factor, and I took all the photos and had them scrapped by bedtime! Template-6-12-on-the-12th

File Sharing...Intimidating or Not?

Aha, I have listened to Hummie's tutorial on file sharing, part 1 at HummiesWorld.com and I have created a link to a test file. "Amazing"! Think I was afraid I wouldn't understand how to proceed. The whole designing thing is intimidating. My love of creating pretty things does not extend to learning techy stuff, but here it is. And...it wasn't even hard to do. Yay!! Here's my TEST kit download:
